A couple of great stories about Giggles doing some therapeutic magic....
From Greenwoods Extended Care Facility on Saltspring Island
Hello Catherine & Paul
Thank you from the residents of Greenwoods Extended Care Facility on Saltspring Island. My name is Ginette and I am an Art Therapist in that facility. You may recall that last Saturday I purchased a tan puppet with brown eyes for the residents, most of which have dementia. Betty was instantly named Betty for her beautiful eyes ( you know the song Betty Davis' Eyes). They have all loved her to pieces. For your info everyone except those with a very high level of dementia have reacted very positively to her.... loved her and smiled brilliantly at her. It was better than I had anticipated. They held her and kissed her and talked to her and laughed. Some had to ask if she was real as they were uncertain. The most sleepy and lethargic ones woke up for the occasion. I will bring her with me at all the sessions as long as I get a positive response. She may have to move in you know...
I also took her to an independent living home where I also practice. The welcome was outstanding there too. As for the staff they came out of the woodwork to see her. One of the kitchen staff has asked me to pick one up for her. When I asked her if it was to entertain her grand children she said "No way, this one is for me!".
Thanks a million, they are fantastic little "entities", keep it up.
And from a Mom with an Autistic child....
Thank you so much Catherine and Paul! We just received our "giggle" puppets in the mail and were surprised and delighted at your generosity. You made our day (and we were having a tough one...). My daughter is "high-functioning" ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), as I mentioned to you, and I was already using the puppets tonight to help her interpret facial gestures (a difficult thing for her). We also have been asking the "giggle monkeys" (as Morgan calls them) questions, and she is delighted to tell me whether they are shaking their heads "yes" or "no" or even "playing shy". We just love them! And so do all my neighbours who enjoyed a front-yard puppet show this evening. I watched your video on your website and it is very informative and helped me to make the puppets "come alive". I can't wait to show Morgan's support workers how well she responds to them! Again, what lovely people you are and what a great product. And if anyone is wondering what to get "the kid who has everything"', I shall suggest that they need a good "giggle"! Have a delightful summer, ( Comox. )

"Dear Catherine and Paul,
You will be happy to know that I got here safely but ooh, that box was so stuffy and squishy ! What a relief to be free again ! My new Mom is taking good care of me and it's nice to be here. I will let you know about my adventures in Israel. Give my love to all my friends and other Giggles back in Nanaimo,
Love , Gila Giggle"
